As for why theres such a continuing scination with Diana, Murton said engagement rings, She was a woman that actually changed. She was in the public eye, and she was, if you like, riding on a crest of the wave. The whole world was changing at that time, including the royal mily. She brought the royal mily to the people, and I think people understood it a lot more.

She stopped and asked me all about my dog. … I couldnt believe it when, less than a year later, Im in Althorp, going through clothes and personal possessions of Princess Dianas, he said. I was very lucky to have been able to meet her.

That dress and all of the other designer dresses are on mannequins that were specifically made by the estate for this purpose, AEI President John Norman said. The dresses stay on the mannequins when they travel. So its – at least I was told from the beginning from the conservators and curators – that theres less wear and tear on a piece if you dont have to put it on and take it off the mannequin every time and fold it up and pack it away.

Prices: $25 adults; $20 seniors and Dream Card holders; $16 children ages 11 and under

The case also provides room for the train to be extended to its full 25 feet – its the longest train in royal-wedding history. When the gown is on view at Althorp, there simply isnt enough space to unfurl the whole train.

So when its transported to a new location for the exhibition celebrating DThe Day Wedding Dresianas life – as it was Monday, to Foxwoods Resort Casino – its handled oh-so-delicately by the only two people in the world allowed to touch it. And they must wear gloves.

To buy tickets: (866) 646-0609,

For Murton, one other tiny item in particular makes a big impact – the small prayer book that Mother Teresa inscribed and gave to Diana.

Once the wedding gown gets to its new site, its put into a case that AEI built specifically for it, to provide visitors an unobstructed view. Its glass all the way around, with no support beams, Norman said. Instead, the glass supports the top.

Those two women were so charitable-minded and became kindred spirits, he said. Its the size of a key case. … It looks like a very small Bible. We try and keep the page open so you can see the wording in it. Its so, so sweet.

Its still in immaculate condition 30 years later because of the care taken with it, particularly with traveling.

Publisher Gary Farrugia will be available Thursday to answer reader questions about The Days new membership model.

Nick Grossmark and Graeme Murton not only deal with the wedding dress, theyre also in charge of putting every item into the cases for Diana, A Celebration.

It is mind-blowing because the diamonds have obviously been handed down for many generations, Murton said. Theyre enormous diamonds, rom gold. but theyre cut differently to how theyre cut nowadays. So, to coin a phrase, theyre very, very bling, bling. But theyre very real. Sometimes, when were handling them, you look at them and think, My God, thats an actual diamond. We have to be incredibly careful of all the different jewels that belong to the Spencer mily.

Dianas life covered it all, everything from humble charity to grand riches. Indeed, Diana, A Celebration boasts its share of tiaras and Spencer mily jewelry.

What: Diana, A Celebration

Share your storm images at or e-mail them to breakingnewstheday.com and well add them to our gallery. Be sure to include your name and town.

The dress worn by Lady Diana Spencer upon her marriage to Britains Prince Charles was unveiled for a photo opportunity at Foxwoods Resort Casinos Great Cedar Exhibition Hall Monday. The show of Princess Diana dresses and heirlooms will be open to the public at Foxwoods starting Friday.

The exhibition details that change through its nine galleries. It follows her as she became a member Wedding Dressesof the royal mily and as she became focused on charity work.

The show, produced by Arts & Exhibitions International, opens to the public Friday at Foxwoods for its only northeastern stop. Its on loan from Althorp estate, the Spencer mily ancestral home; the objects in the exhibition were curated by Dianas mily.

While the wedding gown is the exhibitions big draw, the second most popular of the shows nine galleries is the childhood gallery, Norman said. It spotlights Dianas handwritten letters, photo albums, toys and more. On a large screen in the gallery rolls 8 mm footage her ther shot of Diana and her siblings playing. Sometimes, items in the exhibition appear in the film.

Diana, A Celebration has been open to the public at Althorp for two months each year since 1998 and then travels around the world. More than 1 million people have seen it.

Were you ever lucky enough to get a photo with a mous actor, athlete or author? If you were, send the picture in an email to a.nunestheday.com.

While the exhibition gathers mementoes from throughout Dianas life, the wedding dress is, clearly, the showstopper.

Murton actually met Diana once, about a year before she died in 1997. He was walking his Shih Tzu down a London street when he saw a tall, elegant woman coming toward him – with no security or anyone else around.

When: Opens Friday and runs through Jan. 15

Where: Great Cedar Exhibition Area, Foxwoods Resort Casino

The wedding dress looks elaborate, but, Murton said, The actual train and the actual dress are incredibly light. Everybody looks at it, and they think, Hey, it must be so heavy. But its not. When we change the dress,Wedding Gowns Wedding Dres. etc., I can hold the dress with my little finger, its that light.

Murton and Grossmark must wear gloves to handle all the exhibition pieces so they dont leave fingerprints and oils.

Is it just me or does her head look like it was attached in photoshop? Kind of a strange looking gal.

I think that she is gorgeous and tunning just like her mother. Which Callie, if you knew her you wouldnt be saying that. She is my best friends cousin and a phenomenal and classy lady!

Two stars, one look. You decide who wears it better: Annalynne McCord vs. Selena Gomez &8211; and even more matchups!

Wish she&8217;d put some weight back on&8211;she was stunning in &8220;Saved,&822Wedding Dres Eva Amurri1; now she looks like every other underfed middle rung actress. Pity.

I think it&8217;s cute that she is excited to be married, not just for the wedding. It&8217;s rare to hear a celeb say that. I&8217;m impressed.

Amurri (pictured in Lincoln Center&8217;s Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge) perused dozens of designer dresses, but &8220;they didn&8217;t feel like me. I just felt like my head was stuck on a different girl&8217;s body.&8221; After finding the Lela Rose dress online tory burch r Tory Burch Reva Flats,, she went for a fitting and after a few changes, fell in love. &8220;I tried it on and it was over,&8221; she shared. Revealing thather wedding day is &8220;right around the corner,&8221; Amurri said she can&8217;t wait to be married. &8220;It&8217;s been a long engagement we took the year to get married,&8221; she said. &8220;Now it&8217;s getting closer, I feel great. I can&8217;t wait.&8221;

&8220;Some people say to me, &8216;Look I&8217;m divorced, there&8217;s no way I&8217;ll go and see a wedding dress exhibition,&8217; &8221; notes Quinlan. &8220;But some of the people who were here for the members&8217; preview were quite emotional about the stories. Because wedding dresses are quite special when you look at their history &8212; they&8217;re not just a garment in the wardrobe.&8221;

What&8217;s the Australian connection?Wedding Dresses

Running until Nov. 6 at the Bendigo Art Gallery, &8220;The White Wedding Dress: Two Hundred Years of Wedding Fashions&8221; features more than 170 gowns and accessories.

In spite of the title, not everything in the show is white. Loaners include the eggplant silk Vivienne Westwood ballgown in which burlesque star Dita Von Teese married rocker Marilyn Manson in 2005, accompanied by a Mr Pearl corset and Nina Ricci lace peignoir from her trousseau. Also on display is Gwen Steni&8217;s pink and white ombr&233; ille John Galliano for Christian Dior haute couture gown, from her 2002 wedding to Gavin Rossdale.

Quinlan has added to the original exhibition a mini capsule show called &8220;The Australian Aesthetic: 25 Items from Colonial Settlement to the Present Day,&8221; with gowns from local design names such as Beril Jents tiffany jewelry, Hall Ludlow, Linda Jackson, Martin Grant, Akira Isogawa and Toni Maticevski.

Sourced from the museum&8217;s 200-strong wedding-dress collection and on loan, the exhibit includes work from couturiers and designers such as Charles Frederick Worth, Norman Hartnell, Hardy Amies, Zandra Rhodes,Painting. Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix, Lanvin and Stephen Jones.

Bendigo Art Gallery director Karen Quinlan pitched for the V&A&8217;s wedding exhibition, and due to scheduling delays, the V&A made the decision to tour the show first. New Zealand is the next stop, then Singapore and Russia, before the show finally comes home to London in spring 2014.&160;

In 2008, the Bendigo Art Gallery beat Australia&8217;s much larger metropolitan museums to the V&A show &8220;The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947-1957,&8221; pulling in 75,000 visitors. No mean feat for a city with a population of just 100,000.

Nor did the museum probably envisage the world premiere of its show being in Bendigo, a regional Australian city located 93 miles from Melbourne.

&8220;White has been a constant, but there have been periods when it was not as shionable as other colors,&8221; says the V&A&8217;s curator of shion and textiles, Edwina Ehrman, who traveled to Bendigo for the opening. &8220;The 1920s were a very good example, when many brides wore either silver or gold lam&233; dresses and metallic brocades. It was like, &8216;Oh God, my mother wore that. Both dresses are from a capsule V&A collection that was curated by Cecil Beaton himself for the gallery in the early Seventies.

Jane Jensen The amount of money that was spent sooooooooooo over the top for this wedding could have been given to such better use for charity if anyone in the 2 milies cimbined even gave a sh about anyone but themselves and publicity.

All of Kims bridesmaids — sisters Kourtney, Khloe jewelry stores, Kendall and Kylie, along with Kris Humphries sister Kaela — wore ivory Movado, Vera Wang gowns, as did her mother, Kris Jenner.

Patty Shirley Adkins If you notice in this set of pics, there is not one pic of Kriss mily only Kims mily.

Here comes Kim Kardashian!

The entire wedding has a black and white theme, and thouWedding Dressessands of white roses were incorporated into the decor. The same theme was present for the reception — where the food and alcohol flowed!

Anna Summers she looks gorgeous! Its her day and if she wants lavish wedding and can afford one then let it be! Stop hating. And whether it last or not, doesnt mean that they didnt love each other when they got married. Tara Szczesniak Geames now Kris Jenners dress was horrid!! that boy was bigger than Kim and her new hubbys big heads put together!! what the crap was she thinking?!?!?!

On August 20, reality TV royalty, Kim Kardashian, said I do to NBA star, Kris Humphries. The bride, 30, first walked down the aisle in a custom Vera Wang ivory gown; for her reception, she changed into two more form-fitting dresses by the designer.

Jane Jensen This picture is so unnatural, he looks like an overgrown person & she looks like she had her head shrunk to make her look little…she has a tiny head here, big bust, tiny waist, big hips, so petite, looks so phoney…doubt their marriage survives any better than ke hollywood everafter. Anyone who supports the kardashians is as shallow and empty as they are.

Linda Pastrano Another way for the mother to prostitute the daughters in a downlow.Moms always makin them do stuff for the money. No matter if it hurts the girls. She agrees with everything they do as long as she gets the percentage. She was the one encouraging kim to do the shoot.Lady Madame gots it goin on!!!!…..

Amy S. Petrik I wonder how long this 2nd marriage of hers will last considering theyve only known each other for 6months…

Father of the bride rescues dresses after store cl Wedding Dres

September 20, 2011 under Uncategorized

If you really want to get this economy going, you dont give tax breaks to the wealthy.

Steele and Burrows contacted dressmaker The Dessy Group, in New York City, and learned the gowns were at a Toronto wholesaler chinese jade, but could only be obtained by paying the full wholesale price.

maleman.

It took a bit of rigmarole and work, Steele said. But we did it.

Burrows told Shaw hed drive to Toronto and also pick up as many other back-order dresses as would fit in his large Jeep. He and Shaw made that journey last Wednesday.

Topic guidelines: We welcome your thoughts, stories and information related to this article. Please stay on topic and be respectful of others. Keep the conversation appropriate for interested readers.

We are both also very grateful to receive many e-mails from our brides and their milies thanking us for sure they received their orders.

They dont ship their money offshore to avoid taxes,or buy Lambourginis, and that 3rd house in the Riveraia

The posting said the shop had closed and provideWedding Dressesd an e-mail address for store manager Paula Shaw.

mUST BE A cONSERVATIVE

They picked up the garments, and four gowns for four other wedding parties, with money for each paid up-front by those whod ordered gowns.

Steele said they were told the outfits would be good to go by August.

Burrows said it feels good to generate some happiness in an otherwise stressful store-closing saga.

EARWAX.first of all you want lower taxes for corporations, now you complain about tax breaks for business,

Just pointing out how you people are hippocrites.

(Store owner Heidi Allen has e-mailed the Standard to say she and Shaw are doing everything they can to get dresses in the hands of customers).

In an e-mail, Shaw said its been her pleasure to help Don and the many girls over the last few weeks

Ill tell you about stress.

If you want to know stress.

They spend it in our community where it creates jobs.

and not knowing where there is,or if there is another job.

A real business would have had some sort of insurance, or refund policy whFather of the bride rescues dresses after store cl Wedding Dresen taking deposits of that magnitude for items they were simply going to resell. When deposits are more than 50% of the retail price, I would certainly assume that covers the wholesale cost completely – so obviously that money never made it there. This is a good lesson about credit cards – if the deposits were paid by creditcard, the brides would have been able to get them back simply by calling up and reporting the merchandise was never delivered. That doesnt get you your dress, but it gives you the money to deal direct with the wholesaler. If the business does not accept creditcards that should be a red flag right there. I stand by my statements, its just a very poor way to run a business when doing so much self promotion on tv. This is shameful behaviour end of story, no matter what was done after the ct to make it better, the brides should have been approached individually in a timely manner and told of the situation and given their options tiffanys diamond jewelry, and this would never have made the news to start with.

maleman.

I think people are saying.

She and Burrows ther, Don Burrows, contacted Shaw to tell her the situation was urgent. One of the dresses had to go to B.C. for altering.

After discovering they were r down a priority list due to older orders, Burrows who is co-ordinating plans for his daughters Burlington wedding clicked into high gear.

ITS ALRIGHT TO GIVE ME A SHOT,BUT NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND?

And I was on topic.

The sameones that look at a painting and say, what a genious when some dog walks across a canvess with paint on its paws.

Truthorold, business is business. If there is not enough there to pay the bills, you go out of business. Before you libel anyone else, think before you speak. Heidi was a great business person, the business has dropped off, thats life. Deal with it. People like you dont understand the pressures on business people to stay in business. Government are the worst offenders, they dont want to support business as much as they tell you they do. All those grants are given to companies that already have money, small business – forget it!

Did the owner try to contact her customers to apprise them all of her store closure? If not, why not? She should have realized that the dresses were needed urgently for upcoming weddings! Wouldnt she, herself, have appreciated that heads up? It may have given the brides other options, instead of believing all was ok and finding out the week of their wedding.

It was supposed to be a quick checkup by Marjorie Steele to ensure arrangements for her friends wedding were on track.

Is it we think that all the the people that swirl their wine, and sniff it before they get blotto are special.

Steele said the managers work through the ordeal has been stellar: I have to say nothing but nice things about Paula, shes been ntastic through all this.

Steele said the managers work through the ordeal has been stellar: I have to say nothing but nice things about Paula, shes been ntastic through all this.

Idont think anybody is being malicious.

Who knows how long it would have taken to get those other dresses, he said. And theyd have to pay additional shipping costs. So it is a good news story.

You missed part of the article, truthorold.

So I pull into the parking lot, she said. And I see theres 10 other women standing there.

In an e-mail, Shaw said its been her pleasure to help Don and the many girls over the last few weeks.

This is a story about a good person helping out other people, not about the business…You others, complaining about the business, and the better deal elsewhere are missing the point. These people did a nice thing for others, without compensation. Be proud for them, diablo 3 gol. for petes sake!! Sheesh!

Id sue the school.

Do you have the same sympathy for a guy that lost his job in industry.

We are both also very grateful to receive many e-mails from our brides and their milies thanking us for sure they received their orders.

target=_blank>dfraserstcatharinesstandard.ca

They said to me Read the note on the door.

The wholesaler agreed to release the Burrows dresses to a Heidi representative.

I told them, We have to get these dresses. We need to ship one to B.C. and weve now only got four weeks left, said Burrows, a Fonthill resident and financial adviser.

the point of the story, is that someone did somethng nice for others…BTW, learn to spell, grandpa…and stop giving unsolicitated advice.

It took a bit of rigamarole and work, Steele said. But we did it.

And exactly what point is it we people missed?

Heidi and I are working very hard to fulfill the last few orders that we have, Shaw said.

It was terrible. Some people were getting married that week, said Steele, a St. Catharines resident. At least Melissas wedding was five weeks away.

Good job for this guy, but double shame on Heidi ! I hope they do a show on how she ruined so many peoples special days and she never finds work in the industry again. Absolutely disgraceful – other than taking some dress measurements sounds like her value add to the supply chain was just about zero anyway.

I think that they watch to many reality shows.

In March, her maid-of-honour dress and three bridesmaids outfits were ordered at the St. Paul St. shop in St. Catharines. Each was worth about $300, with one paid in full and the others covered by 50 to 60% deposits.

You give the money to the poor, they spend money in the community.

But after a glance at Weddings By Heidis storefront, Steele realized things were off the rails.

Heidi and I are working very hard to fulfill the last few orders that we have, Shaw said.

Each reportedly made it to the rightful owner, with several since expressing their appreciation.

It makes me wonder about all these so called artistists that set up what they call boutics,or put a french chic name on the front of their restaurants so they can charge outragious prices.

Its a guy losing his job that has a couple of kids ,and a wife.

As the deadline passed, there was no news about the order, and Steele hadnt been able to contact the store. On Sept. 9, she told bride-to-be Melissa Burrows of Kelowna, B.C. shed visit Heidi in person the next morning.

They were so rude in that store, I had the worst experience there shopping for my wedding dress, no wonder they have gone bankrupt. Besides the exact same dresses are 60% less in the United States in Buflo with much better service. I support buy Canadian but when you are overpaying its worth the short drive over the border.

Let her go out and apply for a job like everyone else.

I take my hat of the generousity and consideration of Mr. Burrows for travelling to get those dresses for everyone. That brightened my day, to think that there still are many people like Mr. Burrows! Thanks for coming to the rescue for those brides! Tsk tsk! Shame on you Heidi! Hopefully you learned a valuable lesson here if you ever open another business one day. Your customers should always come first, not be the last ones to know that their special days may just be ruined. Remember that.

Why does everybody think because they come out of a coarse run by seamtresses think they are haute coutere designers.

Most,if not all of these people, are nithing more than seamtresses,or short order cooks with a high opinion of their competance.

I find it shocking that ignorant people think a woman who is on television and has a great reputation in the wedding industry would purposely and maliciously set out to ruin the wedding days of brides across the country. That would be just plain stupid! Obviously there is more to the story pertaining to why the doors had to close. Having to close shop and deal with the outcome would be beyond stressful. At the end of the day she is a real person and its easy for people to point fingers. I know that Heidi the owner of Weddings Heidi Style bent over backwards to make my wedding dress dream come true. Im sure its not easy to be in her shoes right now but I wouldnt wish what she is probably going through on anyone.
